Ron Hill's Story

I met Dr. Edwards in my Outdoor Education class, and we really hit it off. She told me to contact her if I needed anything. She encouraged me in one of my toughest semesters when I was taking 17 hours. She was also there for me when my grandmother passed away. Dr. Edwards was really influential in my life and helped me to decide to apply to HSU’s online Kinesiology, Sport, Recreation master’s program.

The program has been very beneficial to me because I get to make up for some of the experiences I didn’t have in undergrad. As a football player, I didn’t get a chance to do an internship like most students. Now, I’m able to work at HSU as a Student Success Specialist, volunteer for Boys & Girls Club, and earn my degree all at the same time.

I want to be an athletic director eventually. I also want to start a training facility for underprivileged athletes to help them succeed both athletically and academically. I hope to make a difference in the lives of young athletes, just as Dr. Edwards made a difference in mine.
